Summary: Draws blood for Shiel Medical Laboratory at Doctor's Offices/Nursing Homes

Keep up with Safety procedures and related requirements 

 

Assembles equipment such as tourniquet needles, and disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray according to requirements for specified test or procedures

 

Obtains the required specimen according to the Shiel Medical Laboratory Procedure Manual for Laboratory

 

Obligated to collect specimens in a manner that best keeps the integrity of the specimen

 

Dispose of medical waste in accordance with safety regulations. Deliver medical waste in closed 'Sharps' containers to the laboratory at least monthly

  

As a Phlebotomist it is your obligation to ensure the safety and dignity of the patient

Education and/or Experience                                                

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Language Skills                                             

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Medical Assistant Degree; Phlebotomy Certificate
